Family business in the second generation

Paul and Emerita Schmid fulfilled their dream of owning their own hotel, transforming a site that had been a farm and garage up until 1980. They proudly opened the enchanting Hotel Garni Chesa Mulin in 1983, and ran the hotel with dedication and passion for 28 years.

The Chesa Mulin has been run by the second generation since 2011.

In the 1990s, daughter Sonja Isepponi-Schmid and later her husband Andrea Isepponi joined the hotel business. Today, their daughter Lara also enjoys working here. Since 2011, Sonja and Andrea Isepponi-Schmid, together with their team, have dedicated themselves to creating an environment where individuality, quality, and guest-oriented hospitality are at the forefront.

“If our guests feel at home with us, we have achieved our goal.” Sonja and Andrea Isepponi-Schmid

Sustainable and regionally rooted

We are committed to tradition and connected to nature. That’s why we act as sustainably as possible and take the utmost care in selecting the resources we use. Careful planning of the breakfast buffet and snacks helps us to reduce food waste. When it comes to renovation or conversion work, we take pride in entrusting this to regional companies who work with durable, local materials.

Guests arriving by electric car will find dedicated charging stations in the hotel’s parking garage. We also offer complimentary use of public transport for routes in and around Pontresina for guests staying with us for at least two nights.

Breakfast and snacks

Sustainability is also high on the agenda in the kitchen, where we produce individual dishes for our breakfast buffet ourselves. Guests can enjoy homemade jams and soups that are cooked in nearby Bever. Our local cheese comes from Pontresina, and we source our meat from the Heuberger butcher’s shop in St. Moritz. We buy our bread fresh every day from the Pontresina Bakery & Confectionery Kochendörfer and the Bad Bakery in St. Moritz. Our coffee is roasted at Café Badilatti, the oldest roastery in the canton of Graubünden.

Our drinks menu includes a selection of local wines and beers. Naturally, we serve fresh spring water sourced directly from Pontresina.

From 10 p.m., our guests can enjoy a drink from the minibars located on the first and third floors, which offer an array of drinks available for purchase.
